Protecting Our Coast, One Oyster at a Time! Today, our Town Manager, Marc Orlando and senior staff teamed up with The Outside Foundation and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for the Community-based Oyster Shell Recycling and Bed Restoration project along Long Cove. The primary goal of this project is to initiate a grassroots, community-wide oyster shell recycling program on Hilton Head Island, SC, to return the shells to the ecosystem through reef and shoreline restoration projects.A special thank you to The Outside Foundation's Executive Director, Jean Fruh, for her leadership and dedication to this important cause. By volunteering together, we're not just enhancing our island's natural beauty - we're working to preserve it for generations to come.
